Korean Hair Research Society (KHRS) was established in October 29, 1998, as a research sub-committee in the Korean Dermatological Association. Since then, hair symposium has been held in the every annual spring and autumn meeting of the Korean Dermatological Association.

On July 11, 2004, it was extended and reorganized as the Korean Hair Research Society according to the decision of the general assembly of the society. The Meeting of the Korean Hair Research Society has been held annually since 2004. This meeting consists of invited lectures, educational lectures, oral and poster presentations. Hair Forum, which has been also held annually in August, is an informal round table research meeting of the KHRS members.

KHRS is now grown up as one of the key members of the international hair research societies such as North American Hair Research Society, European Hair Research Society, Society for Hair Science Research and Australasian wool and hair research society.
